Windham County Humane Society receives no funding from state or federal sources, or from national humane organizations (other than grants).
WCHS receives no federal, state, or local government funding. Donations from individuals -- people like you comprise nearly all of our annual support. Without your help, we could not make a positive difference in the lives of pets and people.
There are many ways you can support our programs and services and help homeless animals get a second chance.
Required IRA “Roll-Over” Distribution - The qualified charitable distribution (QCD) rule allows traditional individual retirement account (IRA) owners to deduct up to $100,000 from their required minimum distributions (RMDs) on their tax returns, if they give the money to a charity. The rule can effectively reduce your income taxes by lowering your adjusted gross income.
Employer-giving options - Helping needy animals through an employer's matching gift or participating in a workplace giving program is an easy way to help animals. Contact your Human Resource Department and ask if your company has a:
Matching Donation Program - double your donation through an employer's matching gift
Working Place Giving Campaign - often, you can write in WCHS in Combined Federal Campaign, Thrivent Financial, or United Way Campaign
Give from a Donor Advised Fund or Charitable Gift Funds - depending on the Fund, you can directly request a gift be sent to WCHS through your institution. Or, with some funds you can recommend—but not direct—how much and how often money is granted. Unless requested, gifts from DAF or Charitable Funds are often anonymous.
Donate a gift card or raffle basket for a WCHS auction - WCHS holds multiple auctions and raffles a year. Gift cards (cash in your credit card points for perks), tickets to local attractions, and gift cards to area restaurants are always welcome.
