Vet Care Financial Assistance
WCHS offers affordable spay and neuter services, vaccinations, microchipping, and testing for heartworm and feline leukemia/FIV. These services are available for all pets and can be conveniently scheduled online.
For Windham County residents, WCHS provides a Pet Care Assistance (PCA) Program, which offers three tiers of discounted services based on financial eligibility.
WCHS also accepts Vermont Spay & Neuter Incentive Program (VSNIP) vouchers. Please note that VSNIP currently has a waitlist; appointments should be scheduled only after a voucher has been received.
Tips for Managing Veterinary Costs
Here are some additional ways to help reduce or cover the cost of routine or emergency veterinary care.
Start a crowdfunding campaign on platforms such as GoFundMe or Givebutter, and invite friends, family, and community members to contribute.
Search online for grants or programs in your area by using terms like “owner paying for emergency veterinary care grants.”
Talk to your veterinarian about financing options such as CareCredit, VetBilling.com, or inquire about setting up a payment plan directly with the clinic.
Contact local veterinary colleges to see if they offer low-cost treatment or special programs for certain medical needs.
Take advantage of community vaccination clinics, often sponsored by towns, animal shelters, or retailers like Petco and Tractor Supply.
